Membership Monday: OnHand

OnHand President Nate Mickish explains the growth of OnHand and its compatibility with surgery centers in the evolving ASC market.

Nate Mickish has been with Texas Health Resources (THR) since 2013, and he started out building up supply chain management of non-acute care sites. As the program grew to over 300 facilities, Mickish and his team realized they could expand their work to help benefit even more centers. Thus, OnHand, one of THR’s joint ventures, was born in 2016, with a goal of offering supply chain solutions to lower costs, increase efficiency and strengthen clients’ revenues.

The company began by working with 250 physician offices to build a service model that would meet the needs of such a network and then expanded its model to ASCs, imaging centers and free-standing ERs.

Since its founding, OnHand has reached into 23 states, intent on increasing operation reliability and creating a competitive advantage with its supply chain management, all so physicians can focus on giving quality care to their patients.

While its original role was to focus on non-acute sites, Mickish explained that OnHand’s services work well in the ambulatory surgery center market. “Growth in [the ASC] segment remains our primary focus,” he added.“ASCs will play an integral role in shaping the future of a sustainable US health system. I’m glad OnHand also gets to play a role in making that a reality.”

As a growing part of that industry, Mickish added that OnHand is well-positioned to support surgery centers in expanding services safely and efficiently.
